Not every HN user has the same interests. For example
I'm interested in highlighting repetition and "duplication" in HN submissions
I'm interested in when stories are first submitted, which users first submit them, if/when stories are resubmitted, who resubmits them and the points the stories receive
I'm more interested in stories than comments, unless the comments contain URLs. To put it another way, I'm more interested in the news than the commentary
There are many, many stories that I find interesting that have 0 comments
In fact, the majority of HN submissions have no comments
These interests are "intellectual curiosity", as referred to in the HN guidelines
Other HN users might only want to read and make comments
Intellectual curiosity can differ from person to person
(Following the HN /item?id= URL allows one to discover the submitter and access the HN /threads?id= URL)

But none of those have any comments, why even reference these? What are we supposed to see over there? :P Fix your script/agent to not include submissions with zero comments, doesn't make much sense.
